However, it has been reported that the player has agreed personal terms to join the Red Devils. Leaving only the two clubs to agree on a fee, forcing the club to look for other targets instead.

According to the Metro, Newcastle have turned their attentions to Joao Pedro, who has impressed since joining Brighton in 2023. Scoring 30 goals and providing 10 assists in 70 games in all competitions.

However, the Seagulls have placed a price tag of £60-70 million on the 23-year-old. Double the £30 million he was when he was bought from Watford.

Brighton previously signed 19-year-old striker Stefanos Simas from Nuremberg for £20.8m in February. With the Greece Under-21 international signing a contract until 2030 and set to join the team for the 2025/26 season.

Newcastle could lose out on summer transfer target Joao Pedro after Fabrizio Romano confirmed the Brighton striker was on the radar of Chelsea.

Eddie Howe’s team are on the hunt for a new striker to provide depth as they prepare for a return to the Champions League and had been increasingly linked with the Brighton forward, so much so that a transfer seemed like a matter of when not if.
